4. No Team Time Trial Scoring

5. Post your roster in the corresponding race thread by midnight the night before the race.

6. Number of riders allowed per team in actual race is the same as the number allowed on your team (9 in a GT, 8 in all others) Also, list all your reserve or extra riders. There is no minimum number required to participate--if you only have 1 rider in a race, use him!
**Reserves
If you have more than the maximum number of riders allowed, you may list them as "reserves," but these riders do not score points and are not traded into the active field. Listed reserves can be slotted into races only on the day of the race, as if a rider on the non-reserve lists gets sick or is injured or is left at home a reserve at the race will be moved up according to the list provided, first reserve available will be inserted not who you pick after the fact.

7. Overall roster size: 30 riders

8. There are three (3) add/drop/trade periods where you can get rid of riders to add new ones, or you can trade riders with another manager. These periods are the week before (Mon-Fri) each grand tour (which each start on Saturdays).
** The week before the season opener on Feb 28 is also an add/drop/trade period.

9. Doping Consequences: If one of your riders is caught doping, he is suspended from competition until a B sample is confirmed. If and when this happens, any points he has accumulated during the season will be subtracted and standings and scoring will be adjusted accordingly. See the 2009 Giro and Tour threads to see this in action.

* End of Year Bonus Points:

Note: You must track your riders to be eligible for Bonus points. Don't wait to start tracking. You can use the race scoring recap threads to track the following information on your riders.

1. Rider Total Points. The total amount of points a rider earns in the season for all races rider enters, including GC points, Jersey Points, overall points, etc...

2. Rider Total Race Wins. The total amount of actual races a rider won, from Classics (one Day races), Week tour stages, GT stages, GC wins do not count, nor Jersey's.

3. Rider GT Total Wins. The total amount of GT's a riders wins. Again...not podiums and not jerseys....just overall win.

Rider Lists:

I keep hearing from the rookies mainly, "Where am I to find all the riders? I only know a handful of names! HELP!!!!"

Well I discovered this cool thing called the "Internet" I think some Democrat invented it  but somebody else named it the "Inter-tubes"

Anyway, all I do in enter in the following in that box at the top: http://www.google.com
Then in its little box in the middle I enter the magic words: "$#*@*#*$"

Hey, they're magic!

Anyway after a few clicks and reading I found this to suit your lack of rider names:

Official UCI 2010 Team Lists: You can't get more official than that!
http://www.uci.ch/templates/BUILTIN-NOFRAMES/Template1/layout.asp?MenuId=MTU4MTU&LangId=1

But now what, that's a lot of rides how do I know how good they are? I don't want to pick a bunch of wheel suckers and domestices who never win a race in their career! There go my fifty green backs out the door!

Well that same site lists how good they did the previous year here! Note: it does not guarantee they'll be as good this year or that they are even racing 2010, you better cross reference with the list above if you want to be complete, hey no one said it was super easy!

UCI 2009 Rider Rankings
http://www.uci.ch/templates/BUILTIN-NOFRAMES/Template3/layout.asp?MenuId=MTU2MzU&LangId=1

Then there's even more!

Some of us like this site as it is pretty cool! They also rank the riders based on their own ranking system (you'll have to read their site for the specifics).

http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/start.asp

What else? Well you can page through your google search and read other items to find additional info and data. Even visit the riders personal websites for extra info like if they just got a two year ban and won't be racing in 2010 (pst... Tom Zirbel, Danilo DiLuca). WikiPedia is very informative as well as people add extra details like the riders traits (sprinter, climber, grand tour rider, doper, ect...), even their birthdays if you're into that calendar karma stuff, numerology?

But most importantly!

Read http://www.chaoscyclingclub.com/forum its the most complete and detailed analysis of everything cycling! Don't believe me? Well post a question and you shall find out! Do it now! Don't hesitate as that will only prevent you from gaining the knowledge you seek.

So how what that?

Guideline

Check out our schedule for this season and go back to see how these races looked last season. Especially observe what teams were invited to certain races, and always be familiar with the teams that your riders are on. We have 3 add/drop/trade periods this year, as opposed to only one last year (even though I think this expanded a bit with the supplemental drafts we had, which won't happen this year).
So along with the post-draft week you'll get to make changes to your new team, you'll have 3 more opportunities to add guys who you think will be relevant in the upcoming races until the next add/drop period. Put your Topsport-Vlaanderen or Lambourkredit sleeper (but not mine :D ) on your draft list, but drop him pre-Giro when the classics are over. Then you don't have to draft the Andalucia rider if you don't want to, so don't put him on your list - but write his name down and set it to the side, and hope he is still available the week before the Vuelta.

I didn't boost my roster enough prior to the Giro d'Italia last year. I didn't even enter the race with a full team, and I suffered a lot because of this. NEVER short yourself in a Grand Tour.

I know this is some strategy talk that doesn't have to be shared, but we're all about fun, inclusion, and clarity. Keep this stuff in mind as you're looking at large lists of guys who you think you might eventually put on your roster.

Note the incorrect date for LBL on our schedule. I got these right off the cyclingnews calendar in January, I swear I didn't screw them up, and I wonder why they did. They're fixed now, listed below.

Amstel Gold - April 18
Fleche Wallone - April 21
Liege-Bastone-Liege - April 25

REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCES, RACES GO ON AS SCHEDULED.

Feel free to list all your reserve riders, in case a rider on your start list drops out before the race for any reason.

HOWEVER, ONCE A ONE-DAY RACE BEGINS, ANY RIDER NOT LISTED AS A STARTER OR RESERVE CANNOT BE ADDED. The Tour de Chaos is not responsible for any points scored by riders that you left at home, regardless of the reason. Either it's bad luck, or it's bad playing by you. Either way, too bad.

**Note: If you do not have a full roster (or you forget to post a roster) in a week stage race or grand tour, you can add rider(s) from your team that you may have missed to your list until it is at maximum capacity. You will not get credit for any points scored by that rider before he was added, but he is free to score from the point of the add until the end of the race.

See the 2010 Tirreno Adriatico thread, and Team Word Up's situation, to see this in action.

Clarification on this rule:

This is only for the races they're tested positive for right? Of course if subsequent samples from previous (other) races come up positive we deduct those as well or anything after the positive, but not anything before the positive test.

I call this the Ricco rule we hit back in '08, the Waffles gave up and had all of Ricco's points deducted but he only tested positive for the Giro not any of his previous races, so his previous points up until the Giro should of remained, as was later upheld in a subsequent TdC court case, which I forget who presented

Same wavelength, Mash! I looked at the startlist yesterday and thought, "golly, I didn't know there would be so many ProTour teams here."

Well I'd be for it if we still have cancellations, next year we should have backup races to keep the total to 30. If Missouri comes back it should be first if not the back up race?
