top-10 in the past 10

Postby mashjaja » Tue Mar 09, 2010 8:07 pm

It might be comparing apples to oranges, but who are the top-10 americans in the past 10 years?

My completely stream-of-conscince list is:

1. Lance--duh

2. Levi--pretty strong everywhere. Might not be a fan, but the guy deserves his credit.

3. Kristin armstrong--I consider her the top american woman, but I could probably generate a separate list for females--just not sure how many others could

4. Hincapie--hes pretty much always there

5. Dz--dudes a beast

6. Floyd--you win the tour, you get on the list. 'Nuff said.

7. Vdv--couple yrs as a great super domestique and few good yrs at the tour. Plus pink in the vuelta

8. Horner--pretty consistent in small races and whatnot anyways

9. Bobby j (maybe I'm biased here)

10. tyler hamilton--he still has most of his results credited to him, technically...but the suspicion is enough to keep him low

I could go to 20, but good start so far anyways.

Its the Mash list, you need to come up with your own tdf_fan. I'm getting mine ready as well.

Mash, I want to rip your list! :D

Not really, and I like it a lot with just one quarrel: No way DZ ahead of VDV. Switch those two and you're golden.

I base DZ being ahead of VDV b/c DZ has 6 nat'l champs.

Right, I figured that's where you were coming from. I just compare that to top 10 in the TdF twice against the best in the world, and DZ just doesn't stack up in my book. Good ideas though, and I wouldn't change a thing except for that. And like you said, it's apples to oranges sometimes.

How are these lists ordered? By wins? Influence? Overall Bad-assery?

Well, DZ won yellow in the Tour on his own right and held for a day longer than the pink VdV won after a TEAM TT.

and my list is ordered by top-1o wins mostly....influence would be good, too, but idk if Kristin Armstrong's influence is so much greater seeing how the peloton is still incredibly male-driven.
